Client Spotlight – Lucy Lee: Turning Potential Into Performance

Client Spotlight – Lucy Lee: Turning Potential Into Performance

Lucy Lee has been riding bikes since she was a kid. From the start, her passion was clear  she’s determined, committed, and sometimes a little too keen. That energy is incredible, but without guidance, it can lead to overtraining, burnout, and loss of confidence at crucial moments in the season.

Over the past two years, we’ve worked together to channel her talent, refine her racecraft, and build her physiological base, transforming potential into consistent performance.

Managing Ambition and Avoiding Burnout

Lucy has all the physical gifts you could want in a cyclist: power, endurance, and relentless determination. But early in her development, she would sometimes panic in training, going too hard or doing too much. That’s where structured coaching makes the difference.

We built a training framework that aligned with her physiology, racing calendar, and personal goals, giving her the confidence to progress without risking burnout. It’s about training smarter, not just harder, and that mindset has paid dividends.

Lab Testing and Data-Driven Progress

A key part of Lucy’s development has been lab testing to pinpoint personal landmarks in her physiology. By identifying exactly where her energy systems peak and where weaknesses exist, we can focus training to improve the gaps while optimizing her strengths.

Having worked with riders across all levels from juniors to WorldTour pros I have a huge pool of data to reference. That insight gives me confidence in Lucy’s potential. Using the wealth of performance data from projects like the Zwift Pop Idol Academy, it became clear that Lucy has the engine, resilience, and talent to succeed at the highest level.

Standout Results

Lucy’s progress is evident in her results:
• Winner of the 2025 Curlew Classic — an impressive solo victory demonstrating tactical intelligence and strength
• 3rd place at Guildford Crits 2025 — technical racing against top domestic competition
• Victory at the 2025 Kennel Classic — aggressive racing and perfect positioning
• Winner of Stage 6 at Rás na mBan 2024
• Winner at Ryedale 2024 — endurance, racecraft, and execution

These results are proof that structured coaching, precise planning, and confidence-building can transform natural talent into race-winning performance.

Building Racecraft and Confidence

Talent alone isn’t enough; Lucy needed to grow her racecraft. Like many ambitious riders, she had the engine but not yet the instincts to control races. We focused on:
• Knowing when to attack or conserve energy
• Positioning perfectly in the bunch to save watts
• Reading race dynamics and influencing outcomes

Over time, Lucy has developed a smarter, more confident racing style, showing that she’s ready to step up in bigger events.

The Path Ahead

Lucy is at a stage where she could easily feel overwhelmed or discouraged, but her talent, work ethic, and the progress she’s made prove she’s on the right path. With structured coaching, precise data, and growing confidence, the next big results are just around the corner.

Success in cycling is a mix of preparation, timing, and a little luck. But when everything aligns, Lucy has the ability and mindset to take advantage. The lab testing, targeted training, and racecraft work ensure she’s improving every step of the way turning potential into breakthrough performance.
What This Means For You

Lucy’s journey is inspiring, but it’s also familiar. So many women work incredibly hard, give everything on the bike, and sometimes wonder if it’s enough. The truth is, talent alone isn’t the answer structured coaching, guidance, and a plan that fits your body, your calendar, and your goals is what transforms effort into breakthrough results.

With the right support, you can:
• Turn raw talent into consistent performance
• Build confidence alongside power
• Learn the racecraft to influence races rather than just react
• Track progress with insight and data to make every ride count

Think of it like  “Anyone can buy the best bike, have it serviced by the best mechanic, and trust it won’t let them down.

But the most important component isn’t the frame, wheels, or drivetrain — it’s you!

Your engine, your legs, your decision-making under pressure. That’s why having the right coach is just as critical as having the best mechanic.

Lets work on the most important part of your bike: you ..

She’s proof that the line between nearly there and breakthrough is thinner than most people think. Lucy’s story shows that with the right coaching, commitment, and strategy, the next big breakthrough isn’t just possible..  it’s waiting.
